AstraZeneca under Investigation by the SFO for Allegedly Paying Bribes in Iraq

A 2005 United Nations report named AstraZeneca as allegedly paying bribes of USD162,000 to Saddam Hussein’s regime, under the Oil-for-Food programme, to secure 3 contracts worth USD2.9 million. In February 2007 the UK Serious Fraud Office (SFO) launched an investigation into the allegations. AstraZeneca denies any wrong-doing.
