Halliburton and bribery in Kuwait

Employees of the Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root, or KBR, took kickbacks from a Kuwaiti subcontractor. Two employees had been fired for taking kickbacks of around $6 million.

In January 2004, the spokeswoman for Halliburton said 'We'--Halliburton--'We found it quickly, and we immediately reported it. We do not tolerate this kind of behavior by anyone at any level in any Halliburton company.'

Halliburton later announced that it would reimburse the government roughly $6 million in overcharges.
