Colombia: Trade Unionist Murdered for Denouncing Corruption  


According to news reports published by the International Center for Trade Union Rights, in August 2003, the Secretary of the Sabanalarga branch of the health workers' union ANTHOC in Colombia was murdered just days after issuing a report which denounced cases of corruption in the national health sector.

It also reported that Carlos Hernández, president of the Atlantic section of the health workers' union ANTHOC had been forced to leave the country and seek political asylum in response to a tide of death threats following the union's denunciation of corruption in the national health sector.
